Children's Nutrition

Children's nutrition is equally as important as adults'. There are other nutrition recommendations available, but the food guide pyramid is one that most people are familiar with. It informs you about which foods are healthy and which are unhealthy. It also specifies how much of a certain meal should be consumed on a given day. This isn't so much a prescription as it is a guide to help you figure out what's best for you. The smallest portion of this pyramid is at the top. Candy, butter, margarine, salad dressing, jelly, sour cream, soda, and sweet desserts are examples of fats, oils, and sweets. All of these should be taken in moderation or not at all. Because this is a group to consume sparingly and not as part of your usual meals, there is no specified portion size for this group.
